Figure 1: Design; Intelligent |
After developing the idea of outdoor and indoor theme, I
thought of using the cherry blossom tree as a focus point and combined it with
the idea of spot the birds. Cherry blossom tree is inspired by Whitworth Park,
there is an oriental theme within the park that I have represented here.
I have researched a list of birds that live in the
Whitworth Park, as part of the gallery, I took noticed of the Wellie Walk
activity, I thought of focusing on selected birds.
I have designed three digital prints based on the idea of
Whitworth limited editions.
Figure 2: Design with brick wall background; Personal

I added the brick wall background, inspired by the gallery
inside, for Whitworth has expanded the space, the outside brick wall, became
inside wall. This is inspired by the
indoor Whitworth exhibition in which outdoor and indoor walls are dual purpose.
I thought of using that idea and testing out my sample.
What I am hoping to achieve was to produce a series of fabric
sample for interior design use. I like the integration of the colours against
the brick work.
Figure 3: Design; Playful

I was also testing out different colour resolution, for
example, I was inspired by graffiti and aiming at adults with an interest in
art. I used Photoshop to darken this
piece and give it more dimensions. This reflected the Whitworth area’s urban
influence and this is graffiti inspired. This encapsulated the feelings behinds
arts for all.
I am planning to apply my embroidery skills on top of the
digital prints to add textures and have different embroidery design on each,
therefore, each designs are individual as a series.
The final goal is to combine these three images with
embroidery. Each sample will be bespoke
and become part of a series of unique designs. In order to do this I can refine
the composition of the bird before printing.
