Flipbook

After the trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, I have taken inspiration from the rides, as a starting point I have used my personal photographs of the rides and started making a flipbook based on Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

During the process of making, I have worked backward, because to do the ending first would actually make it easier, as I am able to trace back the pages that I have done before.

I had a general idea of what my flipbook would contain. However, after a few pages or so, I started combining drawings with my personal photographs and created collage like pages.
This was my first attempt at making a flipbook and I have realised a few issues;

1) I have done my flipbook drawings in a sketchbook, but the pages would not flip.
2) I did not realise that the human eye needed a longer amount of time for the image to send to the brain, I have not been able to produce enough related collages to make the images relate. May pages are too jumpy and the brain can’t keep up.

Therefore, to solve this I have made a stop motion film. In order to make it flip.

I have learnt from my mistakes. In the second attempt, I have selected a key image instead, and used the computer software to make it go from colour to black and white then back to colour again, but in a drawing way, using a filter in Word to make the pixels develop on screen.
